Anastasiya Blashchishina is a 19-year-old Floridian, who was born in Ukraine, but had to move to the US when she was only 6 weeks old.
Despite the fact she was raised in the US, she never forgot the country of her birth and is proud to share her knowledge of Ukraine and its culture with American students at the various activities around the US.
Here is her story:
“Hello! This is Anastasiya, Anya Blashchishin daughter. A little bit about myself, I am 19 years old. I was born in Dneprodzerzhinsk and came to America when I was 6 weeks old. Even though I lived here all my life I endulge myself in the Ukrainain culture. I love my heritage and always keep up with it. Coincidently, sunflowers are my favorite flowers and they are Ukraines national flowers. The food is my favorite.
The pictures with the group of girls go to Ithaca college in New York, they have a college olympics and a group picks a country and they play different games. They won third place in the games and first in the best dressed category! I made the shirts and sent them my flag.
The pictures of me with red hair is when I went to Sunset Music Festival in Tampa last year.
And the last set of pictures is at EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival) last year, I wore the flag again and a group of Ukrainian people walked right up to me and took some pictures!”
Thank you for sharing your story, Anastasiya! Keep up the good work!
